What made you think of this?

Aside: I've always loved your title, "Untreated Spewage."

Celebrity Death Match was an animated television series that aired on MTV several years ago. From what I read just now on Wikipedia, the series was very popular and 75 episodes were produced during the original run, with a new version of the series appearing a few years later.

The concept seemed quite funny to me: celebrities, usually with something in common, often merely similar names, sometimes similar bodies of work, fighting to the death. Okay, a real fight to the death might not be all that funny, but an over-the-top, pun-filled animated death match should have been pretty good stuff. Unfortunately, I did not find the few episodes I happened to see particularly enthralling. The concept was better than the... execution.

Nevertheless, over the years I've adopted the idea of "A Celebrity Death Match I'd Like to See" a number of times over here on LJ.

Alas, an LJ search just now suggests that I may have deleted all my previous Celebrity Death Match entries. Too bad, so sad; I'm sure they were brilliant.

A few days ago I ran across the featured photo of Val Kilmer as Mark Twain in an article about Kilmer putting together a film and a one-man stage show based on Twain and his writing. My immediate thought was, "didn't Hal Holbrook already do that?" In order to usurp Holbrook, I think it reasonable that Kilmer prove he is worthy... by thrashing Holbrook in a fight.
