I understand the outrage. It means some less hours of free child-care. Cause that is all many of them see about school, getting away from thier own kids.

In the "comments" column of the online version of the local newspaper, most of the complaints are, indeed, from parents who will have to take care of their own children.

They have no problem with teachers and school staff taking a pay cut, but they are incensed at the idea of taking time off work (and hence, a pay cut) to take care of their own children.
