Despite not really wanting to write about work, it's kind of too strange not to sometimes. Today at the close of the faculty meeting the principal reminded the staff, "and remember, when parents come to school with their children, they are not to talk to any of the other students. They are not to talk to any children other than their own."

Is this, like, normal? Is this a rule at all schools? Or, for that matter, at any schools?

I'd like to see your principal try to stop a large, strong Hawaiian matriarch from doing anything she'd set her mind to . . . in light of Hawaiians traditional extended families, etc. . . . this policy seems particularly bizarre.

I fully understand that one has to keep an eye on parents when they come to school. Parents are much worse than the kids.
But preventing them to talk to other kids and aprents ? Phe, won't work. And if you try to hard it will backfire.
