In a previous post I suggested I might avoid writing about work. And so I shall, for the most part. Rather, I'll let someone else write about it. I received this email from one of my fellow education graduates. She is being assigned to 6th-grade next year, but this semester she has been teaching kindergarten. She is working at a school located about a mile from mine, within the same "complex," where apparently the administrators are all subject to the same "complex."

Hi David. After my meeting Friday afternoon with our principal and Kindergarten department head, I did not have anything positive to say to ANYBODY. I was told that the meeting was about my responsibilities regarding sixth grade. However, when I got there, it was a review of anecdotal notes recording my mistakes as a kindergarten teacher. It was listed in detail by the Kinder department head. Pretty much, any time I asked for help or a question I was given minus points and an anecdotal note was made. Rather than resort to violent language and behavior, I chose to remain calm and pretend to listen to what was being said. I fantasized about skydiving and getting a pedicure at the Bellaviva Spa in Kunia. So, all in all, nothing was discussed about sixth grade. Instead, it was a trick to get me into the office to "rag on me". I am taking tomorrow and Wednesday off to re-group, cool off, and get that pedicure at Bellaviva Spa.

Dw---- is going to be at [School X]?!?!?!?!?!?!!? Maybe we are not cut out for teaching after all!!!!!!!

At least she has had her contract renewed for next year.

"Dw----" refers to another fellow graduate. Most of the students in our class were surprised to learn that he had been hired at all, as he has a penchant for making lewd remarks about women and sprinkles swear words liberally throughout all his conversations. The school that picked him up for next year is the top school in the district, and one of the best in the state.

His mother and uncle are highly-placed administrators in the state department of education, but I can't believe that would have anything to do with his placement.

Okay. Enough about work.
