Seeing as how both Ms. LeMannequine and Ms. Natsukæ recently picked up inexpensive furniture items, I thought I'd jump on the bandwagon by lugging home this fine and functional piece someone had discarded alongside the road. Can you believe anyone would toss out such a marvelous piece? I mean, the termite infestation is relatively minor, the two mis-matched plastic knobs add character, and the weathered finish adds to the thriftstore-chic ambience. Plus: nine drawers! A junkaholic's dream! The top measures about 36-inches wide by 24-inches deep, and the entire cabinet stands 36-inches high. I'm not sure how I'm going to squeeze it into The Room of Doom, but that's where it's headed.
Since dragging it home, I've lightly sanded it, oiled it, and rattle-can varnished it. The difference is... negligible. Nevertheless, it should serve my purposes, as either a stand for the computer peripherals that currently cover my "real" desk, or as a work surface I needn't worry about damaging.
