Regarding the Email Updates
Are you two serious? I go to that blog, and clearly see links to the feeds. Are you feed adverse? Are you poking fun at people who rely on email updates? Are you being playfully retro? Do I ask too many questions?

Re: Regarding the Email Updates
Playfully retro: while often that is the case in these pages, in this instance, alas, it is not.

Feed ignorant, in my case. I've seen many mentions of feeds (or should I say, "feeds") over the past two or three years, and discussions of feed readers and such, but I've been too lazy-fearful-ignorant to ever find out exactly what a feed is or how it works. So, I continue to manually surf a collection of favorite sites on a more-or-less daily basis.

Is there a Simplistic Guide to Feeds for the Technically Impaired available? If so, I would love to check it out!

For your even greater amusement: her updates about her updates are individually typed and sent; that is, personalized! I'm guessing we can't say that about, oh, Neil Gaiman and his million-hits-a-month website.

Questions are good. They encourage thought and stimulate potential movement from my technophobic (more accurately, technolethargic) comfort zone.

Anyway... did'ja sign up?

Re: Regarding the Email Updates
Feed Readers are very much your LJ's "friends page" for the rest of the web. Personally, I love Google's reader. But rich local clients are cool, too, because they can display notifications the way an IM client or email client would.

I hope someone else chimes in and can give you a better explanation. Do you use Firefox? You'd be able to take advantage of the Feed Icon that appears on the right hand side of the URL text field.

Re: Regarding the Email Updates
You mean, all I have to do is click that little orange radio-wave symbol thing to set up a Firefox feed? Like, that's it!?!

Re: Regarding the Email Updates
Yup! The FireFox feed facility is OK, but there are so many worthy alternatives! They show their worth when you subscribe to more than one feed. Here are a few from our common friends lists:

http://www.stormwerks.com/linked/x.php/girl/feed/
http://www.voxmachina.com/index.php/vox/feed2/index.xml
http://feed.dlma.com/narilka.xml

Compare rich local feed aggregators like newsgator and remote aggregators like Google Reader (previously linked) and bloglines. Would you want the rich experience from one computer, or an up-to-date list of articles to read from any computer?
