The Icebox Man Cometh, With the Expectedeth Results

Problems with the refrigerator. Let me be specific: SEARS KENMORE 22 CUBIC FOOT REFRIGERATOR, three years old, under extended warranty. The freezer compartment was icing up, the refrigerator section was not cooling.

Called 1-800-4-MY-HOME. Scheduled appointment.

"The technician will arrive sometime between 8am and 5pm. You must be home when the technician arrives or the appointment will be cancelled. You must be home when the technician calls to conifrm the appointment or the appointment will be cancelled."

Waited around. Technician arrived around 1pm. Replaced defroster thermostat in freezer compartment.

"Are you sure that will do it?"

"Absolutely. The thermostat is burned out. It will work fine now."

A few hours later: refrigerator compartment is not even remotely cool. Additionally, the freezer compartment is no longer cooling at all. The ice maker is not working. THE LITTLE LIGHT IN THE FREEZER COMPARTMENT WON'T EVEN COME ON! (Yes, I checked the bulb in another outlet, the bulb is fine).

Called 1-800-4-MY-HOME.

"We cannot schedule another appointment until today's work order clears our system. You will have to call back tomorrow."

Waited. Called 1-800-4-MY-HOME yet again. Much discussion. Four different people. Next appointment: Saturday, sometime between 8am and noon.
