I was going to post this extremely trivial entry about an extremely trivial literary connection I made, but, y'know, I should go do something more productive, and then write about that instead. And, of course, work the trivial literary connection into the productivity post. So, yeah, maybe I'll do that.
Surfboard Factory in Waialua -- P5Oh, yeah, and, I've been grumbling that I suspected my camera wasn't making as clear and sharp images as it used to, so yesterday I finally went out and did a side-by-side comparison between the Sony Cybershot P5 and the Cybershot P10. In sharpness, there's really no perceptible difference. Either I've been imagining there's a difference, or I'm becoming more picky... I mean more discerning. Or maybe I'm trying to rationalize buying a newer, better (that is, more expensive) camera. The P10 exposes scenes by about a half-stop more than the P5, but otherwise, there's not much difference between the two Cybershots. The P10 has a "custom" settings option, so I may experiment with setting a custom profile, with slightly less exposure, more saturation, and a boost in sharpening.

This is an interesting article about digital image sharpening.

As you can tell, I'm having a hard time getting motivated to "do something more productive."

Having said all that . . . I hope you won't be offended that I focus on the picture itself, and say that it captures a very real feeling of Oahu.

(I definitely do see a depth and richness of color in the new camera, BTW)

Sometime, if you ever happen to be driving in Kaneohe Bay, would you mind seeing if 44-447 Kaneohe Bay Drive is still standing? That was our family dwelling for one University of Hawaii semester when our fine family of six still lived under one roof. When I was in the garage I fished out a few old family slides and discovered that my eccentric (deceased) father had meticulously recorded the address of the house on each slide :)
