New Camera Gear

I am listing the Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM Telephoto Zoom Lens and Canon 2X EF Extender II (teleconverter) that I have owned since 2007 for sale on eBay so that I might purchase a Canon Normal EF 50mm f/1.2L USM Autofocus Lens or/and a Canon Telephoto EF 135mm f/2.0L USM Autofocus Lens.

Since I bought it new, I have almost never used the BWL (Big White Lens); from my first Digital SLR camera experience, I've gravitated toward wider angle lenses and close-up photography rather than working with distant subjects or anything that required a considerable telephoto reach. I also learned that the big lens is a hassle and a hindrance when traveling due to its size and weight. On the few occasions I have taken it with me, the big lens has spent the entire trip packed in my suitcase.

I've been thinking about the extremely wide aperture Canon 50mm for quite a while. The highly-regarded Canon 135mm f/2.0 L lens would also suit my "needs" (as in, "wants") for a wide aperture lens that is practical for close and medium subject distances.

I am happy to have had the opportunity to own one of Canon's most highly regarded lenses in the 70-200mm f/2.8L IS USM, but over the past half-dozen years I have come to realize that the lens did not suit my approach to photography. I would rather the lens get some use from a photographer who has a need for it rather than sit ignored in my camera bag; and I am looking forward to trying out one (or both) of the other lenses on my wish list!
