Surf's Up! (Maybe!)

There's a tsunami watch in effect for Hawaii right now, following a magnitude 8 earthquake near the Kuril Islands of Japan. If anything excitng happens, it will begin shortly after midnight Hawaii time.

So far there's no word of impending doom, altho' caution is in order due to the projected arrival time coinciding with high tide and 20-foot surf.

Thanx for the updates, P.

9:00 p.m. tsunami update. The wave... yes, there is a wave... hit Hokkaido, Japan. Four inches. Yup. Actually, 0.1 meters, so more like three-and-a-half inches.

9:40 p.m. tsunami update. The tsunami watch has been cancelled. Officially. Which means, keep a weather eye out!

Tsunamigenic: now there's a word for you! "Darling, you look wonderful! Ravishing! Positively tsunamigenic!"
