Basic Math

Let me see. About 500,000 people have been displaced due to Hurricane Katrina.

So far the Federal Government has alloted over 60-billion dollars for hurricane relief effort.

That equates to $120,000.00 per person.

Those are mighty expensive plastic water bottles and camp cots.

Oh, wait. The camp cots and water bottles are being provided by private charities or state and local organizations.

WHERE IS ALL THIS FEDERAL MONEY GOING?????

Here's MY plan: GIVE EVERY PERSON DISPLACED BY THE HURRICANE A HUNDRED-THOUSAND DOLLARS AND A PLANE TICKET TO ANYPLACE THEY WANT TO GO!

For a hundred grand, most of these people can get their lives back on track very quickly. Many of them might even end up better off than before. They could buy houses, cars, new clothes, and find a job.

And... WE'D SAVE A WHOLE LOT OF MONEY AND TIME!

Not that anyone cares what I think.
